OUT OF ACTION
Aston Villa’s Jores Okore will be out of action for 3 months as he crushed his anterior cruciate ligament when playing his 4th match for Villa when facing off against Newcastle United. This is certainly not good news for a club that is fighting to stay in the middle section of the Premier League standings.
This isn’t the 1st time that Aston Villa has seen some of their defenders out injured for a significant amount of time as Rob Vlaar, Nathan Baker and Ciaran Clark have also had similar incidents in the past.
Jores Okore is one of the latest additions that Aston Villa has had in their injury list. Libor Kozak is the most noteworthy player of the club that will be missing out from the remainder of the season after picking up a leg break.
Libor Kozak’s injury gives the chance for the Danish stiker Nicklas Helenius to step it up and make his claim at the forward position of Aston Villa. Helenius made an impressive season when he played in Denmarked scoring 16 goals and providing 7 assists as he was even named as the Superliga’s player of the year.
Despite having made those fairly impressive accomplishments, Helenius has not earned the trust of Paul Lamber who almost always preferred playing with Libor Kozak and the Danish forward had to settle with a place on the sidelines of the team but things may change for him now that Kozak will be out for the remainder of the season due to injury.
If there is anything that Aston Villa needs to improve this season it’s their attacking department as they have lost 4 out of their last 5 matches with the main reason being their lack to score goals when needed and hopefully the introduction of Helenius into the main team will change it.
