Written by Clint Walper

The Saskatoon Accelerators came out flying, and then came to a grinding halt.

Saskatoon played an outstanding first half against the Edmonton Drillers only to see the Drillers dig in and mount a second half comeback en route to an 11-6 win at Credit Union Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The Accelerators finished their inaugural season in the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League at 4-6 and miss the playoffs.

The Drillers improved to 8-2 and take on the Calgary United FC in the league championship on Mar. 14.

EDMONTON - Three power-play goals in the first quarter powered the Edmonton Drillers to a comfortable 4-0 lead and allowed the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League team to get past their own letdowns and cruise to a 10-5 victory over the Saskatoon Accelerators Friday.

A "brutal tackle" 16 seconds into the game sent Edmonton's offensive leader, Nikola Vignjevic, to the dressing room with an ankle injury that could have devastated the Drillers.

The Saskatoon Accelerators got the franchise started on the right foot at home, scoring an 11-4 triumph over the Winnipeg Alliance in their Canadian Major Indoor League Soccer home debut Friday.

Great Entertainment

Took in the Accelerators games on Sunday and was thoroughly impressed with the speed, skill and creativity of the game. With the music going in the background, I often felt like I was watching a highlights reel as there was one amazing play after another. The Saskatoon team appears to
have a glut of talent and Jay Tomchuck stood out as the incredibly gifted and
unselfish player that he is. I really hope this league does well, it is very entertaining and I will be spreading the word.

Great Game Friday!

11-4 is a high scoring game for any soccer team. I totally enjoyed it so much! It's so awesome going and seeing the guys play. Such an adrenaline rush for me cause it totally pumps me up for my own games. Congrats on the great start to the season Accelerators!
